Discipleship -
Lately, I have been on a never-ending journey of discipleship. The Annual Conference wants its churches to build and implement a plan for intentional discipleship. I have heard of this and avoided it for a while. I mentioned it in a meeting a few months ago. I started taking a class with our former DS with an aim to work on this project. I mentioned earlier that I have been meeting with our District Lay Leader, Ellen Mall-John around this topic. Why all the fuss? I am reminded of a cartoon I saw ages ago (It may have been Garfield). The human asked the cat about walking. “Do you walk with alternating sides? How do you determine the timing/balance? At what point in your walking to running ratio do you stretch out your front and back legs?” The cat’s response was, “I may never walk again!” My point here is that for us folks involved in the church, we are already disciples. We are disciples of Jesus. We choose to follow him and his teachings and our lives are lives of active faith. Hopefully, the process of being a disciple is a natural one. What then makes an intentional disciple? That will be our journey together! If the topic of being an intentional disciple interests you, please reach out to me! Blessings! Pastor Kristi
